Join us on November 2nd and 3rd to compete for $1000 by building a new innovative application using ALTR’s blockchain-based secure storage API.

How the event works

On Friday evening participants will be given time to learn about ALTR’s technology and to talk together about innovative use cases for it. Then, participants with an application idea will be asked to present it in a 30 second “elevator pitch” to the rest of the group. The rest of the participants will then have the opportunity to join the group whose idea interests them the most, before we break for the evening.

The minute the doors open on Saturday, the formed teams will have the next nine hours to work together building an application prototype that showcases their idea. We will have engineers from the ALTR team on site to help the teams work through any technical questions they might have.

At the conclusion of the event the teams will present their idea, the work they completed, and most importantly their business justification to a panel of three judges who will then select a winner.

Why Blockchain

Securing Sensitive Data is accomplished by breaking sensitive data up into fragments which can then be distributed across multiple blockchains. This prevents any single person or environment from completely controlling all aspects of the physical storage and makes the sensitive data itself nearly impossible to reassemble and steal.

Some examples of this use case: Social Security Numbers, Medical Information, or Banking Information.

Creating Immutability is accomplished by involving multiple storage parties to make it nearly impossible to edit or delete existing data in the blockchain. Because of this anyone accessing the data can trust that it has not been modified.

Some examples of this use case: Chain of Custody for Evidence, Financial Transactions, and Logs for Personnel Access to Locations or Computers.

Do I need to have a team to register?

No, you do not! It's encouraged to participate without a team in mind. On Friday evening, individuals will have the opportunity to propose a 30-second "elevator pitch" of their ideas for potential projects. After all the ideas are pitched, participants will be able to walk around and talk to each of the idea owners to ask questions and get more details about their proposals before splitting off into teams with the proposals that they believe in the most.

Registration is now closed.

This event is presented by CAI and ALTR and will take place at the CAI Corporate Headquarters at 1390 Ridgeview Dr. Allentown, PA 18104. Hackathon is open to currently enrolled college students only. Must be able to attend event in person. If you are interested in attending please make sure to register using the following form. Participation is limited.

Formed in 2014 and launched publically in 2018, ALTR’s core team came from the algorithmic options trading world where they became experts in secure, low-latency systems. Now, with a portfolio of 12 patents and growing, ALTR has designed the first-ever high-performance private blockchain technology that is purpose-built for synchronous, secure data storage.
